A great deck, 10.6.2008

As most people know, Bee decks are used in a lot, if not the majority of casinos. There's a reason... they handle excellently. The cambric finish seems a little less slippery than the bike's air cushion finish (though DEFINITELY slippery enough to handle), and it could be my imagination but I think the quality control is a bit better for the bees (in terms of rough edges out of the box). Bee's have a borderLESS back design which obviously carries both positive and negative side-effects. In terms of using them for magic the back design makes any sort of reversal very difficult (assuming your audience isn't blind). This same back design could give you extra cover for gambling moves though (eg. false shuffles and false deals) even though your technique (and misdirection) should be enough to cover the moves alone. Another plus in regard to the back design is that the red back blends in quite well with your skin for card manipulation acts... I'm pretty sure this is the brand/design that Jeff McBride uses in his act. The cards fan well, spring and dribble well and have a certain firmness and snap to them which feels great when riffle shuffling. I've found that they wear quite well, though I've heard others complain that they get sticky faster than other decks... I guess that depends on the individual's hands to an extent as well. Over all it's a great deck to use as an alternative to those Tallys and bikes - particularly for gambling routines. Oh, and they're not bad to play with either ;-) I'd have given them 4.5 stars but it wasn't an option... only because of the downside of the all around back design. Still, if you choose to use these cards in appropriate routines I don't think you could fault them.
