a small model of a cricket bat about 6 inches in length and enclosed in a cloth case is handed out for inspection, the case is retained by a spectator and the performer receives the examined bat in his right hand. he then draws 3 lines across it with a piece of chalk. the bat in then turned over and 3 more lines are made on the other side. the piece of chalk is then handed to the spectator holding the case. the bat is now shown to have unmistakably 3 lines on each side...
